Activism is defined as the action of using vigorous campaigning to change issues that are political or social. Slacktivism is very similar to activism in the way that it is campaigning for change, but it occurs on the internet and requires very little time or energy. With anything, there are pros and cons, benefits and drawbacks:

PROS: Raises a lot of awareness as protests/campaigns may be covered on the news. Many people are made aware of the issue as it spreads extremely quickly through all social media. It is very easy to contribute to the cause.

I would like to speak a social issue that is very important to me, and that not many people are aware of: misgendering.
Misgendering is when a person is referred to or addressed with the pronouns that they don’t identify with, either accidentally or deliberately. It occurs among non-binary persons who identify somewhere on the LGBTQQIP2SSAA, better known as the LGBT+ spectrum. Misgendering has become an issue in the past couple of years as people have become more comfortable than identifying as anything but cisgender, heterosexual. But those who do not know or understand gender do not think twice about misgendering.
The best thing to do when meeting someone is to ask them what their preferred pronouns are. These pronouns could be anything like: he/him, she/her, they/them, xe/xir, ze/zim, etc.
A few things you are saying to people when you misgender them is that you don’t really respect them as a human or as an equal and that you don’t care how what you say makes them feel.
