Mr. Bloomberg is one of the wealthiest men in the entire world and is willing to spend his own money to fund his campaign. After months of watching the candidates bicker and fight, Mr. Bloomberg has given this opportunity great consideration. His biggest challenge could be the fact that Michael Bloomberg is part of no political party. Bloomberg would be running as an independent. Currently in this race it seems as if there is more fighting than debating and proving your beliefs. Here are some pros and cons of Michael Bloomberg running for president. Pro: Michael Bloomberg has the experience. After being mayor of New York for several years, Bloomberg has proven that he actually has experience in politics unlike some of the presidential front runners. Con; he has been out of office for a few years and possibly could have lost touch of what being in office entails. Pro: the main focus of most presidential debates has been the topic of terrorism. While Michael Bloomberg has many ideas to stop it, he is very focused on providing a better education for the country. Con: while Bloomberg was in office nationally all test scores rose, but New York reading and writing scores for all 8th graders did not. This has worried people because they don't have faith in Bloomberg's plan to create a better education system and for the kids to raise their test scores. Con: Michael Bloomberg is very late to start his campaign. May current candidates have been raising money and campaigning for months. It could be a tough scenario for Bloomberg to come in this latest. Will be interesting to see if he entered the race and to see if entering late really affects his performance in the election. While many people ho[e Bloomberg runs, there are some non public contingencies that his aides have spoken of. He plans to only run if Bernie Sanders is the Democratic Nominee and if Donald Trump or Ted Cruz are the Republican nominee. While this is very possible, there is a high percentage that Hilary Clinton will beat Bernie Sanders. Polticians are very interested in the next few months and to see if Bloomberg would still run if Hillary won the Democratic

In Wayne Steger’s book, A Citizen’s Guide to Presidential Nominations: The Competition for Leadership, he identifies the important factors of the presidential nomination process, which can then be used to understand the 2016 cycle. His argument states that the crucial period of a campaign is during the invisible primary, which is the year or so preceding the delegate selection process. If party stakeholders are cohesive, (as in the Democratic Party,) the race will be predictable; if they are not, (as in the Republican Party,) the outcome is more of a tossup. The outcome and its predictability also have to do with the size of the candidate pool; more candidates lead to more uncertainty. The Democratic pool is much smaller (and much more predictable)…
