On the morning of April 19, 1995 there was a blast that would change the United States forever. A man by the name of Timothy Mcveigh drove a Ryder moving truck up to the Murrah building in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and detonated a bomb from inside the truck.He was reasonable for killing nearly One hundred- seventy people and injuring over five- hundred more people. Those nearly one hundred seventy people included nineteen children that were killed in a day care on the second floor. Mcveigh was charged with one hundred sixty seven counts of murder. In fact it was a very cautious and well thought out scheme. But Mcveigh was not alone in his evil mischief he was accompanied by a old army buddy named Terry Nicholas. Mcveigh and Nichols started gathering and collecting all kinds of materials to build their monster but simple bomb. The bomb was made up of “4,800 pounds of ammonium nitrate fertilizer mixed with fuel oil in 20 blue plastic drums. It was “boosted” with metal containers of hydrogen or acetylene, to make it even more lethal” (Thomas). Then he fled from the truck jogging a couple blocks away through busy downtown Oklahoma City. Where he had his getaway car parked. Right before he got to his car the bomb went off and caused the ground to shake and making it a day that would forever be remembered. “ seventy minutes after the blast the mass murder was rolling away from the scene of his crime. Then, without warning, everything went awry. A bored Highway cop noticed that mcveigh's battered old mercury Sedan lacked a rear plate and pulled him over. The kid was polite, the cop after testified but he seemed a tad, well preoccupied. And when the cop glanced around the car's interior, he noticed what appears to be the butt of a pistol” (Franklin). The cop arrested Mcveigh and took him to a holding cell in Perry. Meanwhile downtown Oklahoma City was in complete chaos. Fire departments and all sorts of first responders charger to the scene of the now crumbled remains of the Murrah Building.
