Marijuana Marijuana is a plant that produces Cannabis flowers. Marijuana has many different street names ranging pot, weed, grass, etc. The main use of Marijuana is when people ground it up and smoke it. Multiple ways of smoking it include; pipes, water pipes, joints (hand rolled cigarettes), and by taking out tobacco in cigars and putting it in there. When used as a medical marijuana is mixed into foods, such as, brownies or cookies. There are also hybrid uses of marijuana. People can make a hard glass candy type of hybrid, this is then melted into water bongs then inhaled. Marijuana is most often abused for the psychoactive chemical in it, THC. Marijuana is not all good, there are also some negative ripples from it. Some of the major cons of marijuana are; impaired memory, anxiety or paranoia, depression, or, more simply, addiction. Most of the problems come through excessive use of the drug. When using too much of the drug, too often, is when the problems will start appearing. There is also a general idea that if you smoke marijuana once, you are deemed addicted. The addiction comes after excessive use, only about 9% of marijuana smokers become addicted. Another con of marijuana is that, in excessive use, is can lower blood pressure or even cause liver disease or diabetes. The drug appears to help people more than it hurts them. Also, in most states that have legalized it, there has been a drop in crime, most are over 7%. Some articles contradict what others say, articles claim that is causes lung cancer, whereas some say that it helps prevent it. Finally, marijuana is also an opportunity for people to get jobs. The legalization of marijuana will open up more opportunities for people to be employed, which will help with the unemployment rate.
