After learning I was pregnant with my oldest child I was asked the question that started it all. I was confused and caught off guard when I heard, “Do you plan on vaccinating the baby when it’s born?” Of course I did. Do parents not vaccinate? Isn’t it something you have to do? Why is this even a question? Toni Bark, the Medical Director at the Center for Disease Prevention and Reversal, states that today over 50% of children have some type of chronic illness. However, the thought of these illnesses being linked to childhood vaccines are dismissed and sometimes, even considered impossible. Upon doing my own research and learning about the ingredients, adverse reactions during clinical trials, the threat …show more content…
Herd immunity is a theory established in the 1930s by researcher, A. W. Hedrich, who found that communities below 68% of naturally acquired measles immunity were more likely to have outbreaks. However, there are still communities with more than 68% vaccination rate experiencing outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases, with these diseases also infecting fully vaccinated children and adults. Of a recent mumps outbreak in Iowa, 68% of children who contracted the illness had been fully vaccinated. In Leicester, England 95% were vaccinated against small pox but still suffering horrible outbreaks, a major measles epidemic struck Quebec despite its 99% vaccination rate, another measles outbreak began where there was 97% vaccine coverage and 48% of those cases were in fully vaccinated individuals. (Dr. Tetyana) It has recently been brought to light that vaccinated individuals are asymptomatic carriers for a span of time after vaccination. Sara Tartof, epidemiologist with the CDC, states that incidents of whooping cough drastically increase after the completion of the DTaP series. Dr. Tenpenney, an osteopathic physician, explains that true immunity comes from real exposure and every part of your immune system creating a defense. The innate immune system is the most important line of defense and does not respond to the artificial antibodies created via vaccination. It is more logical that the vaccinated continue to spread diseases than the unvaccinated that have never carried the
