To some people it’s considered as scary or morbid to discuss the concept of death. However, when a person dies the world keeps on living. Therefore, it is important to understand that once you are dead you have no more use for your organs. Once you have passed on you have the ability to pass on your organs to someone else. Think about all the amazing experiences you have had so far in your life. Someone else in the world may never get to experience the great things life has to offer because of their need for a transplant. Approximately 56 million people die each year from accidental cause or old age (Reference.) If all of those people were mandated to donate their organs then the supply needed for transplants would increase dramatically. Would you rather leave a heart in a 82 year old women or save a 8 year old little girl? Saving a life is the right thing to do, you are ethically obliged to. (4 more sentences)
However, many people believe that the cons of organ donation outweigh the pros. Although, most of the time the cons are not cons at all, but rather assumptions based on misconceptions.
