Long Term Care Options
The three long-term care options that were researched are Home Health Care, Assisted Living Facilities, and Nursing Home.
Home Health Care has several pros and cons. Some of the pros for home health care is being to keep the person in their familiar environment, this contributes significantly to the over all health and well-being of the individuals. Another pro is cost, the financial savings of having in home health care keeps cost to a minimum. Lastly, you do not have to worry if the person is receiving proper care, because they are with their loved one. However, some of the cons associated with in home health care is the physical exertion on the caregiver. Another con is the cost of having someone come in and care for the individual when the caregiver can no longer do the cares can be quite expensive, even more so then the assisted living (Elderly Care at Home). …show more content…
Some of the pros with Assisted Facilities is that they provide the level of care that is consistent with the individual’s needs. Assisted Living Facilities also allow the individual to maintain their sense of independence and dignity for as long as possible. The individual is also able to remain more socially active in an Assisted Living, as they are around others whom engage in the same activities both verbally and physically. The cons about Assisted Living Facilities is the financial strain as it forces individuals to often give up their homes and possession, because of the downsizing.
