Pros And Cons Of Living In The Trenches

Decent Essays
It is day three in this terrible war, already most of my close friends have gotten killed trying to protect our country. Every time i look around i see dead bodies everywhere, i feel like you have to be crazy if you like fighting and killing people. I honestly would rather be a slave then have to be here, i feel that even slaves have it easier than us, because if they mess up they get hit by their owners but if we mess up we get killed. It's crazy to think that any one of these days i could get killed and never be remembered. Never in my life have i felt so scared for my life, but i suppose i have to get used to this. I hate waking up every morning and not knowing how my family is doing. Living in these trenches isn't easy i hardly sleep,

Conscription in WW1 was forcing to take men 18- 40 years old for military service even if they did not want to unless if they were widowed with children or ministers of a religion. Everybody knows that there are a lot of cons too conscription some of these cons are violating free will to people because they don’t have a right to pick if they want to go to war or not. One of the pros of conscription is that it without it no one will join the war. Another pro is that it helps out with nationalism so they can actually say that they care about their country and they are willing to do anything and everything they could to help out in the war even if they leave their families for 8 years.…

What these intervention methods show is a collaboration between men presented with no other viable options. For the soldiers in the trenches, the necessity of exterminating their vermin often outweighed the constant danger that surrounded them on a daily basis. Lice were clearly one of the worst problems the men faced in the trenches — both for their health and for their personal comfort. The intervention methods they practiced were so far removed from those purported by medical professionals, showing that a new ‘system of ideas’ spread by soldiers relied on the conditions that surrounded them, and the materials they had access to in the trenches. FLESH THIS OUT AND PUT STUFF IN ABOUT FAILURE OF PROFESSIONAL INTERVENTIONS ETC.…

Everyday soldiers get deployed, leaving the peaceful life. They don't know that when they get back everything will change. They don't know that they won't be taken care of because of their sacrifices. They don't know that they will come back from the war empty handed, with no money, with no career, and with depression. And worst of all they don't know that they will likely end up in the streets with no legitimate home.…

Veterans who were handicapped as a result of the war might have limited hiring opportunities and are likely to have low performing abilities on the job which could lead to decrease in future income. Also, factors like skills mismatch, post war trauma (PTSD) and negative stereotypes about veterans might reduce their chances of being hired which could also lead to a decrease in future income. According to Angrist and Krueger (1994), there can be opposite outcomes for the veterans who serve in the wars that were not supported by the public . Veterans who served in such wars are more likely to receive negative reactions from the public and the labor market . Some of these negative reactions include discrimination by employers and employees…

I have to face life’s obstacles every day. Sometimes the obstacles that I face can be hurdled over, but most have to be dealt with. I have been on many overseas tours with the U.S. Army, and have learned how to be resilient in coping with stressful situations. Resilience is, according to Harrington (2012),”An individual’s response and methods used to allow them to successfully navigate through or past an event perceived to be stressful” (p. 27). One obstacle I have had to overcome is being away from my family when I am deployed overseas with the military.…

Is dying in war heroic or is it just another death? As humans we thrive for war just to show dominance, but what we don't realize is that we are hurting the younger generation by saying dying for your country is heroic.
