From the examples stated above or from common knowledge, I believe that most of the audience would agree with me that George did indeed make the right choice. Without him stealing Carlson’s gun and taking the matters into his own hands, Lennie would have died a gruesome death that he did not deserve. George, Slim, and Candy knew that Lennie had meant no harm by killing Curley’s wife, so they tried to think about the best way to protect him that they could. The best way to protect him just so happened to be killing him with the murderer being his sole companion instead of a stranger who didn’t care about him or know his true intentions. I believe this is because he would have known deep down it’s what Lennie would have wanted him to do, he liked it there. Then, after he worked at the ranch for a few, he would have decided to partner up with Candy after all and by that ten-acre farm house they talked about before Lennie 's death. They would buy all the animals and crops they talked about together, especially the rabbits, but this time George would tend to them since his companion could not.
