Euthanasia, assisted suicide, mercy killing, sounds crazy right? Its actual a common misconception. Most people think that euthanasia is related to suicide and influencing death; thats not at all what euthanasia is. Euthanasia is the killing of a patient suffering from an incurable disease or in an irreversible coma. Euthanasia is illegal in most countries. Legalizing euthanasia would help end the suffering for so many patients, the suffering of patients doesn’t only affect the patient but affects the family even worse. Euthanasia should be legalized when the person has no quality of life and is suffering to live without support. Some doctors refuse to end a patients life such as Dr. J Nutik-Zitter, the author with “The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine” (AAHPM) is one of those doctors. She believes that there should be a more moral way of euthanasia. She stated “I’m not okay with helping my patients shorten their life span no matter how much they are in when its their time to go its their time to go” (Nutik-Zitter). Euthanasia may be considered “murder” but regardless, no matter the pain, any person may be in then death is always an option for most.
