The debate over whether or not abortion should be a legal option continues to divide Americans long after the US Supreme Court’s 7-2 decision on Roe v. Wade declared the procedure a “fundamental right" on Jan. 22, 1973. Proponents, identifying themselves as pro-choice, contend that choosing abortion is a woman's right that should not be limited by governmental or religious authority, and which outweighs any right claimed for an embryo or fetus. They say that pregnant women will resort to unsafe illegal abortions if there is no legal option. Many people have different opinions on should it be illegal or not.

Some people totally disagree with a human being life being taking away. “The killing of an innocent human being is wrong, even if that human being has yet to be born.” Even though they are not in the world yet, unborn babies are still considered as human beings by the US government. There was an act that was created to protect the killings of unborn babies called the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. It said in it that anybody intentionally killing or attempting to kill an unborn child should be punished. The act also states that an unborn child is a "member of the species homo sapiens.” “Life begins at conception, so unborn babies are human beings with a right to life.” Fetuses feel pain during the abortion procedure. It is also killing a human being which defies the word of God. The father of the pregnant women has no legal rights in your abortion process - neither in signing the consent for the procedure nor to be notified of the decision to proceed. State restrictions in certain areas are also a main problem when dealing with abortion. “Having an abortion done always carries the risk of not being able to become pregnant ever again in life.” Women should think about this carefully before they decide to follow through with this process. There are many different side effects that are caused by abortion. Some are excessive vaginal bleeding after the procedure, infection in the uterus, fallopian tubes, or abdomen, complications from the anesthesia medicine, and retained fetal tissue that is missed during a surgical abortion or did not pass during a medical
