Introduction: The Kennedy family is one of America’s most well known family. From actively stepping into American politics starting the 1940’s until present day, to becoming prominent in great amounts of public service, many Americans believe that the Kennedy’s fill the role of “an American royal family”. Kennedy was the only male Kennedy left. His father Patrick, and older brother John had died of a cholera infection that had affected the Boston area at the time. Growing up as the only male, P.J. was the first Kennedy to receive a formal education. P.J. had grown very popular and wealthy in Boston due to his saloon which sold the best quality liquor around. His growing popularity and wealth led him to run for the political position in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, which he was elected into 5 times. He then went on to serve in the Massachusetts Senate for 6 years. P.J. went on to marry Mary Augusta Hickey, with whom he had 4 children.
