I believe that this act of altering genetics could also alter God’s plan in life for the parents, and/or the child. Your child could be seen to have an extra chromosome in the pair 21 which results in down syndrome, but by changing this it also may change God’s plan for a non-believer to become a Christian. His life plan may seem a little crazy at the time, but it also gives the opportunity to learn patience and kindness, it gives another chance to be an example to those who don’t know him and to share the gospel and save others . This all results in a more purposeful life in which you save others from eternity in hell rather than having a child without a disorder or syndrome.
Another flaw in Germline engineering is the matter of ethics. A child may feel betrayed after a parent tells them that they were designed even before they were born. Anyone could imagine being put in that posititon, they could feel that if they didn’t turn out the way they did, their parents wouldn’t love them. Also a person could put themself in the parents position. If I were a parent I would like to see what my child would actually look like without scientific tampering.
