Over the years the demand for food in the United States has increased due to the increase in population. Not only the demand for food has increased, based on the population increasing, but the demand for prettier, better tasting, larger quantities, and newer foods are increasing. The food industry has found that genetically modifying foods, or GMOs, have allowed them to adapt to the consumer’s demands. The debate between whether genetically modified foods should or should not be produced has been going on for years in the United States. The genetic modification of foods has both positive and negative side effects. Even though there are positive effects, the negative side effects raise concerns that need to be addressed.
