Pros And Cons Of Four Day School Week

In the academic community the issue about shortening the school week is a major topic. Just like most arguments they're are two sides to this issue, and both sides have a strong opposition. Personally I think that the 4-Day Week is a beneficial endeavor. For one, more students are attending school, instead of ditching, dropping out, or having to miss they’re classes for various reasons. Second it saves the schools a lot of money, and lastly, students are improving in their school studies. Furthermore, Statics show that more students are attending school more with the change to the three day weekend. It’s also very helpful for students who are in sports, because they’re able to attend they're events without having to worry about what they missed in their classes. Last year in Georgia a school was able to save nearly $800,000. They were able to do this because they saved money on transportation, heating, and other power fees ( Four-Day School Week: Pro or Con?). The article Four-Day School Week: Pro or Con? stated what some of the schools used they're saving money on. They provided the school with better teaching equipment, hired teachers who required more money, and we're able to give better accommodations. My last reason is that students improved they're grades and test scores after stating the 4 day school week. In the article Making the Case for Three-day Weekends Every Weekend they shared with us some interesting statistics that more fully proved that this switch really did help them. They shared with us that within the same year the student's math scores went up by 7%, and that wasn't the only score improved. They're reading scores went up by 3%.
