Argument found in 13th: Government and corporations purposely try to detain all colored people by scripting laws in their favor. This should not be allowed as the land of the free is taking away everything free by enslaving the colored people by sentencing colored people to prison.

Agree: ALEC is funded by major companies which makes them money by making foolish laws that benefit the whites and rich but also benefit ALEC because they get paid off of punishment towards prisoners. A company should not be playing with laws to benefit money as it is not fair to allow people get away with murder like the Zimmerman-Martin case.

Disagree: ALEC does not make certain laws to attack colored people but instead make laws that help the economy and citizens during the time. ALEC showed such by attacking popular drugs during their peak of sales.

The issues started when McCleskey, an African American, was convicted of two charges of robbery and one charge of murder and was sentenced to the death penalty. These actions were taken on the account of McCleskey robbing a furniture store in Atlanta, Georgia and murdering a Caucasian police officer in the process, by shooting him with a gun. Later witnesses brought in the gun he used, and one of the bullets that were fired that night. The jury did find him guilty and charged him for the things he did. McCleskey tried to defend himself in court by stating that they were violating the eighth and fourteenth amendment, which both explain things about equal protection rights, and cruel and harsh punishments, given to those who are tired.…

In your response, please justify or support why you feel that each of the issues have ethical implications. Before presenting my recommendation to Mega Food, Inc., I must first consider the company’s ethical responsibility to the employees, the ethical responsibility to the farmers, the ethical responsibility to the community, and the ethical responsibility to the people of Frostburg. ‘The choices leaders make and how they respond in a given circumstances are informed and directed by their ethics” (Northouse).…

The article written by Philip cohen described a clear indication of a flawed justice system in America. Can a young black man receive a fair and important trial? Will he be judged by a jury of his peers? I perceive this as a problem that has effected the African American public for a long time. In the case of zimmerman, yes I did not capitalize his name and that’s for a reason, V.S. the state of Florida who in essence represented Travon Martin this system showed the atrocities black men face when entering the court seeking equal and fair trial.…

Many of these animals being held in captivity are overly dependent on antibiotics and other drugs which is not an ideal situation (Berry 3). Crops are also dependent on toxic chemicals such as pesticide which many consumers may not be aware of. Berry states the fact that food companies have and are attempting to keep consumers from discovering too much about the issues of the quality and health of their food (3). The only true way to better the treatment of animals to be killed for meat and prevent the spraying of toxic chemicals onto crops is for the public to develop an awareness of what is truly happening in the food…

If you have ever worked in the foodservice industry you know about the behind the scenes action that occurs behind the ominous “employee only” doors. If you’ve ever been a patron of a restaurant you’ve seen employees pass back and forth through those doors carrying heavy trays and skillfully balancing multiple scalding hot dishes, all with smiles on their faces. They are not smiling inside. According to the United States Department of Labor, “The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires payment of at least the Federal minimum wage to covered, nonexempt employees.…

As a black man, I’ve heard my parents tell stories of being denied service in restaurants, of being turned down for apartments, and other experiences in the general racial climate in America during the 1960s. By all accounts they were too focused on immediate survival to worry about such things that were outside their control, but it must have been a difficult time. Yet surprisingly despite what today would be considered withering racism, in general, somehow back then black people were better off relative to whites and other races than today when there is a black president in the white house. How can this possibly be?…

Of course we can’t just stop selling animal products but we can help ease the pain of animals that we consume or use for testing. We can make it less inhumane, we can find a way to help them out. Like in your article, “In Germany, the government is encouraging pig farmers to give each pic 20 seconds of human contact each day and to provide them with toys to prevent them from fighting,”(5). When doing that we can provide information on how it affects them and the quality of their well being. Then compare it to the ones that don’t get the same care.…

It isn’t necessarily why do I want to serve with FoodCorps but why wouldn’t I want to serve FoodCorps in my opinion. FoodCorps and myself share multiple similar values, some being the promotion of civilian equity regardless of culture or political differences, production of a better future through younger generations, and additionally the passion for healthy foods and spreading information about healthy foods. The moral life values I live by can be moderately characterized with some of the aspects of FoodCorps’s mission and vision. Through experiences like the MANRRS (Minorities in Agricultural Resources and Related Sciences) National Conference 2016 in Jacksonville FL, which dedicates time to discuss current food issues that are being…

The Permanence of Racism “Black people are the magical faces at the bottom of the well”, Derrick Bell. For as long as humans have existed, the permanence of racism, prejudicialness and separation between mankind has always been prevalent. The idea presented in “Faces at the Bottom of the Well” that, “we shall overcome”, is an excuse for people of color to sit around and wait for an adversary to come and bring them out of the compromising situation Whites has placed us in. Bell elaborates on his upbringing, mentioning how at the time, slave heritage was seen more shameful than something that should give on a sense of pride. Having slave blood was looked down upon and to this day it still is.…

Companies have found “loopholes” in the Industrial Chemicals (Notification and Assessment) Act 1989, in order to continue these activities. Although these companies may have a license to conduct animal research, they are breaking the regulations stated in the Animal Welfare Acts among the country from which it is an offense for an individual to “ill treat an animal” for reasons separate from self-defence or survival. The continued use of live animal testing has lead to the initiation of this Bill, as these practices contradict that of the Animal Welfare Act 1985 of South Australia (among the 7 others in different states and territories), and the Industrial Chemicals Act 1989. In order to cease the animal abuse caused by live testing, the Ethical Cosmetics Bill 2016 aims to terminate the importation and manufacture of cosmetics that have been tested on live animals and the unnecessary torment it…
