The first program was focused on supplying relief to the unemployed and impoverished in order to attain economic recovery. Major programs introduced in the first New Deal included the National Recovery Administration and the Agricultural Adjustment Administration to help boost industry and agriculture within the country. Additionally, the TVA and other government services were provided. FDR also passed the Glass-Steagall Banking Act in order to try and renew faith in the banks to hopefully lead to a quick recovery. The second New Deal was primarily focused on social reform and government provided economic aid. The Works Progress Administration was a key factor in helping create jobs for the American public, the government pumped tons of funds into this program in an effort to get millions of americans employed. He also passed the social security act to ensure those unable to work would be funded by the government and not just left to poverty. In contrast, the America First Committee argued that complete impartialness and neutrality was the best route for the US. The CDAAA’s main goal was to support the ally powers; however, they came up with some more specific goals such as to support Britain with destroyers, flying fortresses, along with other various boats and planes. They also wanted the US government to use it’s navy as a convoy for ally supplies and aid in the war everyplace possible without actually getting caught in fighting.
