Fallan Kurek is a young woman who died in England of a blood clot on her lung; surprisingly this blood clot was caused by birth control pills that she has been taking for some time before her death. From their name, birth control pills are a method of birth control, they were approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in the U.S. in 1960. Since then they have been used worldwide, as they are considered as the most effective method of birth control, which also happens to be reversible. Birth control pills pose dangerous health risks to women, some of which are fatal; the solution to this problem, is simply replacing them with something harmless, and a considerable alternative for them would be the LARCs.

Women who are taking any kind of birth control pills are at a higher risk having blood clots, heart attacks and strokes, and this is because of the chemical composition of the contraceptive pills that contain desogestrel and cyproterone, which are two substances associated with

These options are safe, cheap, and effective and require little or no maintenance. There are two types of LARCs; Intrauterine Devices (IUDs) and Contraceptive implants. The IUDs are plastic devices that are small and flexible, and they work once they are inserted into the uterus (by trained professionals). The IUDs have different ways of preventing pregnancy, one of which is stopping the sperm from reaching the egg. The contraceptive implants are also small plastic devices, but they are not inserted into the uterus, instead they are inserted under the skin of the woman’s upper arm. What the implants do is very simple; they produce progestin a hormone that prevents ovulation, and the implants are functional for up to three years. The LARCs have side effects for sure but these side effects are not in any way dangerous or
