There can be many benefits to Euthanasia, but why should we legalize the taking of our own life. How would we protect from corrupt doctors and care takers? There are too many things that could go wrong. Euthanasia is the act of painlessly, or allowing a person to die by withholding medical treatment in cases of incurable and usually painful diseases. Some might say,” Why should someone be forced to live.” or “Who has the right to make someone stay alive.” Nobody has the right to make someone stay alive, but legalizing assisted suicide is wrong. First off, some laws are already in place to allow a person to withhold or stop medical treatment. The article “Euthanasia facts” states,”Doctors are allowed to prescribe lethal doses of medicine to terminally ill patients in five US states.” If people already have the right to withhold medical treatment why would they need to take their own life? In conclusion, Euthanasia should be illegal in all states. If Euthanasia is made legal, what value does life have if it is legal to take it. Out of the many reasons why Euthanasia is bad, the risk of abuse is the most compelling. There are chances of no abuse ,but the risks of are too great. With this information, how could we argue about legalizing suicide? We need to stop the controversy and realize that Euthanasia is not a good thing to make legal.
