Why You Should Not Be Drinking Bottled Water?

More than $100 billion is spent on bottled water all over the world.This is not surprising when we consider the ease of carrying them around and their wide availability. But environment and health activists are seriously concerned with their excessive use. Let us know why:

The Bottles Are Harming The Environment
72 billion gallons of water is used annually to produce empty bottle containers which are consequently used to sell bottled water. In addition to wasting huge amounts of the most precious resource on Earth, the production of plastic also requires the air polluting process of natural gas extraction. The plastic of bottled water contains a chemical called Bisphenol which has been reported to cause health issues such as learning difficulties in children, obesity, structural damage to brain, and even early puberty. Moreover, when these bottles are heated, they release chemicals into the water that cause hormonal imbalance. In addition to the risks posed by the harmful constituents of the containers of bottled water, the water in these bottles do not hold a cent percent guarantee of being pure. A 1999 study has shown that at least a third of the sample of bottled water has been found to contain contaminants. With facts such as these, staying away from bottled water seems to be an ideal choice.

Bottled Water Is Uneconomical
If you consider the huge costs of the production, transportation, handling of plastic bottles, and the fact that most bottled water has been found to be tap water, you will realize that the bottled water that you buy must be pretty expensive for the water inside. You are correct! Studies suggest that bottled water is 2000 times costlier than tap water. So if you go for tap water over bottled water, you are not only saving yourself and the environment but also your pocket.
