On July 23rd of this year a new law went into effect that would also ban people from using an electrical device while driving. Previously, drivers could use their devices at red lights, but now that is no longer the case. Every day 9 people are killed by distracting drivers, “ approximately 9 people are killed and more than 1,000 injured in crashes that are reported to involve a distracted driver,” not each year, but every day, this is a situation that’s getting out of control too fast. Distracted driving not only affects the driver, but also pedestrians, and other drivers. Florida was ranked as the sixth nation when it came to distracting driving, however, Florida decided to do something about this. Florida is now among 41 states that set a law to eliminate distracting driving into place. Highways now include designated areas where drivers are allowed to pull over and use their phone if needed to try and decrease the number of distracted drivers. Since these laws and prevention's were put into place, the fine for been caught texting while driving increases up to $136 dollars, while a second offense will cost $234
