Pros And Cons Of Distance Learning

Nowadays, distance learning is among the famous technologies offered in education. The relationships between computer technologies have offered a lot of promises in the field of education. Many users like using this kind of technology and continue seeing it grow. However, there will always be pros and cons due technology, administration, instructional method or students. Before we go into details, distance learning has a lot of terms in the past and the term can be described in a variety of situations. The term distance learning has been around for 100 years, and it first started in Europe. In the middle of the century Instructional radio and television became more popular. As time passed, technology started to changed and develop, so do the definition of distance learning. From videotaped lectures uses in the University for the Past Two decades to audiotapes and lessons sent through email. According to Greenberg (1998), he defines it as a planned teaching by using technologies to reach users at a distance. He also said distance learning is design to encourage learner interaction and certification of learning. (1999), for them, distance learning is the teacher and learner are separate in space and possibly time. The one who give the most definition was Desmond Keegan (1995).He says that separation of teacher and learners which frees the student from travelling to fixed place, fixed time and meet a fixed person, in order to be trained.
