Pros And Cons Of Concealed Weapons On Campus

Allowing concealed weapons on campus would be opening a path that leads to more safety but also more danger that students and staff are exposed to on campus. Students would be putting all their trust in the hands of another student who has access to a weapon and who can either protect others or harm others if that person decided to. Deciding if the policy should be passed is already difficult enough for lawmakers due to the disagreement between proponents and opponents of carrying concealed weapons on campus. However, coming up with a compromise to deal with this issue is most likely possible.

The pros of carrying a concealed handgun can be quite a few. A person is less likely to attack someone who they believe is armed and carrying a concealed handgun could also help stop a public shooting spree. People also feel safer and more protected and that would especially be the case for students who have classes at night. However, permitting concealed handguns would also raise more panic for the non-carrying students than reduce it.
