We see a lot of stories about the possibility of colonizing Mars, and we read about big companies like NASA and Mars1 making plans to actually go there. Most readers react positively and get really excited about it, without being aware of the downsides and drawbacks of life on Mars. Temperature on Mars is - 70C, sometimes it drops to -100, which is colder than Antartica! That is an atmosphere that humankind cannot possibly survive. Gravity on Mars is substantially low, which can cause damage to the bones and muscles. While flying to Mars, you will face cosmic rays and energetic particles from the sun. Both of those have serious health risks like cancer and DNA damage. The way I see it, from my perspective, instead of trying to

While the idea of living on Mars is exciting, it’s not necessarily ideal. Lisa Grossman’s article “SpaceX Mars Plan is Clever but Unconvincing” presents a stronger argument than Eric Betz’s article “The Falcon has Landed. Now SpaceX is Eyeing Mars” because overall, Grossman’s has more authority, is more logical, and uses better examples. 2 One of the main reasons Lisa Grossman’s argument is stronger is because overall, she has more credibility than Eric Betz. Although Betz is associate editor of Discover magazine and has written numerous articles on space and nature, Gossman has had years of experience in astronomy.…

If you're crazy enough and want to go to Mars, I think this will change your mind; Only 1/3 of spacecrafts sent to Mars have been successful, and that could be your ship that doesn't make it. NASA is launching a spacecraft with four people to try to colonize Mars, which means they will not be allowed to go back to Earth. We should not go to Mars because of the risks included, death, serious injury, and massive failure. Mars is an unforgiving place where a small mistake or accident can result in large failure, injury, or death. For example, if you accidentally go outside in space without a spacesuit you are dead.…

The general argument made by author Laurie Vasquez in her work, Could Human Actually Live on Mars? is quite simply that people have the ability to make it to the moon, they just need the materials, technology, and people to help them achieve that goal. More specifically, Vasquez argues that NASA has the technology to achieve the dream of landing on Mars. They mainly have to learn how to overcome the challenges of going to the red planet. She writes that, “‘We’ve had the technology since we went to the moon,’ Petranek says. … the journal Scientific Reports found that even after six months, Mars astronauts would experience brain inflammation and neuron damage.…

One last reason why people shouldn’t go to Mars is because there are so many risks of Death in atmospheric pressure, temperature, and common casualties such as sickness or even as simple as a suit ripping. These can also be fatal because the pressure is so different there that anyone would die in seconds if something went wrong and their body met the outside air. The temperature also gets as low as 150°C which would cause death by freezing but a human would die by the pressure way before freezing. Let alone all of these horrible casualties, there would also be extreme boredom because all day people would do chores, go to the bathroom, and then conduct research. These are only a few of the many reasons of why not to waste time going to…

Since the trip to mars is so long people on the rocket ship would lose muscle strength. For starters, if you stay in space to long your body's muscles would get weaker the longer you are up there. Lastly, scientist know that time away from earth's gravity can harm the human body, the bones and muscles would get weaker, and the body would produce less blood. After all, once you go into outer space it would be hard to recover if you ever went back to earth. Therefore, it is dangerous for humans to travel to mars.…

Is colonization as much of a thing of the past as Europe is trying to make it? Paul Rusesabagina once quoted “The individual’s most potent weapon is a sudden belief in the triumph of common decency”. However, if he were to take a closer look at the number of horrors that were being demonstrated on a day to day basis, he would reconsider his statement. The legacies that aggressive globalization has left on various colonized countries are a bloodstain on the records of the various European colonies.…

Humans have pondered on the question, “Are we alone?” for centuries, however, humankind still lacks an answer. Human beings are cognizant and curious of the world surrounding them. So much so that governments, including the United States government, spend billions of dollars on space programs to explore the solar system, the planet Mars in particular. As our earth develops into a planetary, polluted waste, Mars could eventually become our new home.…
