Despite warnings from district officials to stop the public display of religion, he continued to pray. The district’s cause for placing Coach Kennedy on paid leave was that praying on the field violated, “federal and state constitutional rights” although Kennedy’s prayers were completely voluntary. Coach Kennedy’s firing is a perfect example of the problem of religion in sports. For the kids who volunteered to be a part of the prayers are now out on thanking the Lord with their teammates.…

Lately, many issues about expressing political views publicly have surfaced. People have been protesting during the national anthem, this, in turn, is causing an uprising about when should people be allowed to protest. People should be able to protest whenever they feel like because that is part of their constitutional right to freedom of speech. Toni Smith author of “A Leader is More Than a Messenger” writes about how everything is advertised during major events. She goes on to explain how sports are filled with political messages even though they relate nothing to the sport itself.…

An extensive report about sports-related concussions in young people, released last week by the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council, made recommendations that included bolstering research, collecting data, examining injury protocols and educating the public. But the report identified one particularly stubborn challenge: the “culture of resistance” among high school and college athletes, who may be inclined to shrug off the invisible injuries and return immediately to the field. “There is still a culture among athletes,” the report said, “that resists both the self-reporting of concussions and compliance with appropriate concussion management plans.” Dr. Frederick P. The Seahawks head coach likes to have fun during practice and in meetings and even has a mini basketball hoop in the practice facility that they can use in practice and sometimes he will stop meetings to have a shooting contest on it. He also sometimes likes to play blaring music to let the players have fun. For the past few months, the sports media has been embroiled in a fight over “stick to sports.” The phrase comes from a common online rebuke directed at sportswriters and pundits and players and coaches and anyone in the world of sports, really, who takes a political stance on anything that doesn’t occur on a field or a court or in a locker room or front office. The dividing line is predictable: Many jocks and traditionalists argue for a separation of church and state; many young fans say that sports, just like everything else, is politics. But as the sports media critic Bryan Curtis has pointed out in The Ringer, the debate is mostly moot now: Trump’s presidency, with its daily explosions, has made it impossible to cover pro sports, even in the simplest box-score ways, without detouring onto the White House lawn. This comes, in part, from the way basic sports coverage works.…

Over the years, there has been a major conversational issue in the United States today about whether prayer should or should not be allowed in public schools. Prayer has already been banned in various numbers of public schools across the country. Many people have different religious views on this issue, but someone else’s religious view should not determine what someone else can do. The First Amendment states “freedom of religion”, so why can children not have this right in public school? There are plenty of different religions.…
