It was the winter of my junior year I was cruising along in my car listening to Katy Perry’s song “Hot N Cold.” The lyrics “You change your mind” were blasting through my 2010 Kia Rio speakers. It was at that moment that I realized that life can stop in an instant, mid thought, mid sneeze, even mid lyric, and feel like the world is crashing down around you. Technically it is well at least for that very moment when you realize that the semi-truck you were stopped behind is now on top of the car and the beloved backseat that had so many memories made in it; like the nights spent crying with friends, or the day we all had a picnic in the back because it was raining outside are distant memories forever gone replaced by the orange Hyundai Santa Fe that just blind sighted you. That backseat is now touching my head which is now full of glass and as I frantically try to open my driver side door to no avail I resort to what can only be called a fight or flight response and I kicked my passenger side door open with more …show more content…
That’s why man states have a law against using cell phones while driving. However, the restricted use of a cell phone while driving is up to the state legislator which makes the laws vary between state to state but 38 out of 50 have an all hand-held ban most of it is directed towards teenagers or beginner drivers and school bus drivers (Essex 1.), however since it is a primary offence in these states a cop will pull over the person over if he/she is on their phone and they will receive some type of fine or jail time depending on the state. Now in 47 out of the 50 states there is a ban on texting while driving and that applies to all drivers (Essex 1.) it is not always a primary offence but if you are pulled over for any other reason a fine will be added for the use of a cell
