Nowadays, there are many new forms of family units and lifestyles. Except for the nuclear family, which is the most common one, the rate of single family and blended family is increasing. Single family means that there is only one parent in the family and the one is usually mother because the mother is more likely to win the custody. Blended family consists of a father and a mother as well as the children that they have in their previous marriage. However, there are usually some problems between the stepfather and the children on discipline. The children may not obey the stepfather because he is not the kids’ “real” father. Therefore, we can know that there are some problems existing in the new forms of family units.
