Birth Control is one of the main conflicts between a daughter and her mother or father. They always argue that they’re to young or that this pill is used as a cover so that their daughter can have sex. But, little do they know Birth Control can do more than just prevent them from being pregnant. Birth control always comes out as a “second condom” for sex. Because of this, parents and guardians always have a hard time determining if they want their daughter on this. There are plenty of other things this can prevent. Birth control should be started when girls are 15 or 16 regarding parents consent.

If you’re specifically using birth control for something besides getting pregnant the pill is better. Most women are prescribed combination pills (that is, ones that contain both estrogen and progestin) that also thin the lining of the uterus (making it more difficult for eggs to attach) and thicken cervical mucus (so it's more difficult for sperm to reach your uterus in the first place) (Kiefer).
