Brigham Young University. Without question. It is the school that I have planned and dreamed of attending since I learned about it. A school that combines an excellent education that prepares your for success in this life as well as a religious education that prepares you for the eternities. Such an institution and community is where I would be honored and blessed to attend. Provo and Utah County as whole is being described a "Silicon Valley" of sorts in the business world. My intended major is in business, thus being a perfect area to learn from companies and startups here in Utah. Attending Brigham Young would put me in an area of intense economic growth and opportunity. Thus allowing me to begin my career at home and allowing to give back

“A report from the National Science Foundation found that HBCUs produce the largest amount of African American students that go on to pursue PhD’s in the STEM areas. In fact, approximately 33% of African American students receiving their PhDs in STEM attained bachelor’s degrees from HBCUs. To put that in perspective, roughly 105 institutions are producing a third of all African Americans obtaining PhDs in STEM fields” (Gasman & Commodore). This statistic shows that even with fewer resources than PWI’s HBCU’s produce their fair share of driven students. However, no one likes to talk about this.…

Students attending college are now exposed to the real world of being responsible for their attendance in classes. College life is more diverse than high school, because students now have the ability to make their own life choices and College students have more freedom than high school students do. Being able to take the classes they want, need, and also paying for their own courses. College students have to be committed to do well in their classes, but also have their own decision making if they want to be present to class or not. Now that students know they have all the freedom they want, some students think they don’t necessarily have to show up to class since they are paying for it.…

I chose to attend Wor-Wic Community College because of the support system that Wor-Wic has to offer. I applied to the school and attended it while I was injured with a traumatic knee injury and the staff really proved to me that they cared. I had surgery the first week of classes,so I emailed my teacher and they were all understanding and extremely helpful in accommodating to my needs. The late computer lab hours really helped me to be able to get my school work done after my night classes ended. Everywhere that I go I advocate for Wor-Wic because it is truly more than an institution, it is like another family to me.…

Zig Ziglar once said, “There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs.” College is very expensive nowadays and is harder to pay for than it was back then. College is a very hard thing to accomplish and a hard decision for individuals and their families. Even though college is worth going to, students still have to pay for college tuition, a place to live, and transportation which is all too expensive for them.…

Waffle Now Human Relations Officer, I think that Waffle Now servers should be paid the federal non-tipped wage. As of now we are being paid the U.S's minimum tipped wage. This wage has not been adjusted in years while the non-tipped wage has nearly doubled. Because us servers are being paid the minimum tipped wage we are forced to heavily depend on tips from customers. The average tip in similar resturaunts in the area is 16.6% which sounds great until you learn that you have to pay taxes on all tips, leaving you with what is actually most of the time less than the minimum tipped wage.…
