Atomic Weapons
I am against Atomic weapons build up that is happening around the world. The weapons should not be used when countries are at war. They cause too much death and destruction of not only people but also animals and plants. They can damage the environment that lasts for years. Atomic weapons are also used as a scare tactic by other countries against their enemies such as the U.S. and Russia. We really need to think before we allow more atomic weapons to be built up around the world.
The main reason I am against the buildup of atomic weapons is that they can cause such horror when they are used. Just because you can create and build the weapons, perhaps you shouldn´t. If one country has them and they have an enemy next door, there is the chance that one or other will get angry and use them. That is not something that should happen but could happen if there is not a decrease or elimination of all atomic weapons. Around the world, there are approximately over 30,000 atomic weapons in the hands of different countries. (Greenpeace) Unless we get rid of the weapons, there is always a chance that they will be used.
Furthermore, the use of nuclear weapons can and will harm the environment. Atomic weapons are the one creation that can destroy life on Earth. According to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) website ¨It would take less than 0.1% of the explosive yield of the current global nuclear arsenal to bring about devastating agricultural collapse and widespread famine.¨ That is one scary scenario that could happen.
