Pros And Cons Of Assault Weapons

According to BBC News, “About 40% of americans own a gun or live in a household with one.” Guns play a big role in the american society. There have been many deaths due to guns but prohibiting them wouldn't have prevented these deaths. There are many reasons to why prohibiting these weapons will do more harm than good. I feel as if federal laws should not prohibit assault weapons because it will basically disengage the second amendment, it disregards americans rights to safety and it will cause more problems and violence rather than solving it. Americans that pass a the test and meet the requirements for the weapon should be more educated in them to be blue to use them against people using them for bad. The only thing that’s going to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. The first important reason on why assault weapons should not be illegal is it will disengage the second amendment. The second amendment states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.“. It’s not the gun that kills a person, it is a person that kills a person. People kill people with knives but we don’t outlaw knives. So why would we do that with guns? Chicago has completely illegalized guns and according to Janice Williams from news week.com in her article “Most Dangerous City: Chicago Tops 400 Homicides, Leading Nation.”,Chicago leads the nation in homicides and is known to be the most dangerous city in the country. Chicago is a prime example of why more gun laws aren’t going to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Criminals are not going to obey the laws it’s just gonna keep the guns out of the hands of the people that will use them for good and safety reasons
