Imagine a rabbit, its life carefree and happy. That is how one would want it to stay, but unfortunately, it cannot. This rabbit is not just an animal, it is a test subject. According to “Should Animals Be Used For Scientific or Commercial Testing?”, an estimated 26 million animals are used each year in the United States to test vaccines, drugs, and commercial products. While the research is beneficial to humans, the helpless test subjects often are injured by the substance or are killed directly following their trial. Animal testing should not be allowed for commercial products, but may be used for medical research as long as the creatures are treated with care.

The consumer products that we use must be tested using animals to make sure they are safe. While this prevents human exposure to dangerous chemicals and toxins, is it any better to expose animals to them? Additionally, according to Ian Murnaghan of aboutanimaltesting.co.uk, “... many of these animals received tests for substances that will never actually see approval or public consumption and use.” Many of the animals tested are forced to suffer for no reason because the product will never actually be accepted or be in use. There are yet more cons of animal testings. One is the expense. According to “Using Animals for Testing-Pros Versus Cons” , the tests cost a huge sum of money, as the animals must be fed, cared for, and then have the research conducted on them. While some may say the cost is worth the helpful information that is received, this data is not always accurate. An animal’s body can react to substances much differently than a human body. Because of this, testing products on animals is unreliable and the public sometimes ends up experiencing health issues resulting from the use of products after they have been tested on animals and
