Murder or a women’s right? This is what the abortion controversy comes down to. Abortion has quickly become a very current controversial issue. Most people are either completely for it or absolutely against it. Lately, the topic of abortion has grown in popularity with just about everyone. Women should have the right to an abortion because children who were unintended suffer more consequences, in some cases women have been raped, and keeping the pregnancy can negatively affect the mother’s health. Children who were unintended suffer more consequences than children who were planned. If a mother keeps a baby that is accidental, they tend to grow up with more complications. These issues often include social problems, poverty, child abuse, and juvenile delinquency (Russo). Abortion would prevent issues like this in children. Children who were unplanned by their mothers had lower self-esteem 23 years after birth (Russo). Children don’t deserve to have these problems just because they were not planned and abortion allows more babies to grow up healthy.
