Day care for my preschool child
In today's society, typically both parents work away from home. Not all families have the luxury of having a stay at home parent. With this being said, finding the right day care or babysitter for your child can be difficult. Each parent has their own preferences and requirements when it comes to choosing the right fit for their child. Each child is different, as is each home environment. Children should be introduced to a preschool setting because they should be around others their own age to help improve their social skills. As long as a day care center can offer the right amount of teacher to student ratio and have a nice balance of curriculum and structure for the children, then a day care center is the better option over an at home babysitter. There are pros and cons to sending your child to a day care center, and is some cases choosing an at home babysitter can be the better choice. …show more content…
Around the world, increasing numbers of children are enrolled in early childhood education programs. (Berger, 2014, 2011, 2008, 2005, p. 271) One of the first priorities of parents of young children, is making sure their child is getting the proper education and will be ready for grade school when the time comes. When choosing a day care center, making sure the curriculum is appropriate is key. Two aspects to look at when considering a school is if their approach is teacher-directed or student-centered. Teacher-directed approaches focus more on preparing students to learn with structure, whereas student-centered approaches leave more room for active learning and working on social skills. A well balanced day care center will have a mixture of both approaches to meet each child's learning
