Introduction
In University, there are two academic systems Quarter and semester system. Most universities prefer semester system while other opt for quarter system. A lot of factors come in effect when choosing a system to follow. The academic plan depends in the system the student opts for. The systems has both its positives and negatives. This report discusses about which system would I advise to a university. This report shows the difference between both quarter and semester system ( Pros and cons) in making the right move for a student to pick. This also shows the procedure while starting a new term and their estimated cost. This report uses the porters value chain model and strategies to a university for its competitive advantages .

Because of short time, it’s possible for teachers and students to make a comfortable timetable, instead of wasting time. If other or rivalry universities work by the quarters system, the university will be necessary to save the quarter system.
Suppliers’ bargaining power: Students’ performance and power of the professors
It is quite important to worry about students capacity. There is a less time in the quarter system, consequently to get better the attention of the students to their studies and courses. Moreover, students can easily memories what they learned at the beginning of the quarter, as the quarter ends fast. The existence of teachers, that ready to offer the lessons in a quarter system is important as well.
Availability of substitutes: Flexibility or substitution
Students can vary their courses ,because they are short and this lets variety of experience from cooperating with varied faculty members. Sometimes students don't have the capability to take the semester system, the university will need to hold the quarter system

For advantages the university must the knowledge of porters five competitive forces in selecting either quarter or semester system. Universities must implement strategies that do not only increase cost during enrollment and outbound logistics, universities must avoid unimportant costs .Top class learning atmosphere must be given to students to lower the chances of bargain in education .Human resource must be ready to serve or manage and help providing the best and high quality education to the fellow students .This entitles the students to study hard and achieve what they deserve and finally complete their required goal in the
