Prophets In Carvalho

While reading about prophets in Carvalho many questions came to mind. The first question that came to mind was how do prophets come to be? How does God choose who is a prophet, and how does God communicate with them? One aspect I did not know was that there are many different kinds of prophets. Growing up I assumed that the only prophets were the ones listed in the Bible, such as Moses, Elijah, and Joseph. However, this is not the case, according to Carvalho, there were hundreds of prophets just around Samaria alone but much more in the county of Israel. I thought it was interesting to read about the “frenzy”. A “frenzy” is when a prophet acted out the oracles. Why did Ezekiel lay on his side for 430 days to act out the siege of Jerusalem? This was interesting to me because it …show more content…
Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors.” (1 Kings 19:4) This verse was interesting to me because this is talking about when Elijah was praying for his death. At this point in Elijah’s journey, he felt as if he could not go on. However, the angel of the LORD came down and told him “Get up and eat or the journey will be too much for you” (1 Kings 19:5-8). Elijah listened to the messenger and the food and water were able to give him the strength to continue his journey and walked for forty days and forty nights to the mountain of God, Horeb. This was interesting to me because, in the beginning of this chapter in the Bible, Elijah wanted to give up but in the end, he was able to complete the goal. Through a messenger, God was able to help Elijah so that in the end he can stand in front of God to deliver a message. Reading about Elijah was a new learning for me. This is because his story shows how he wanted to give up but the LORD was there to help him complete his journey. I feel as if this story relates to today’s contemporary world because I, along with many others, have experienced the want to give up but through prayer and the help of God anything is

Greater Prophets: Have you ever been threatened to be thrown into a fire because of your faith? Or thrown in a lions den? It also takes place when Babylon was seiged by Persia. Daniel was given the task of relaying the Lord’s messages to the people and trusted the Lord in spite of the danger of his own life.…

After reflecting on the care God gave to Samuel, Elijah, and Elisha, I believe that God’s care for these individuals started at the very beginning of their lives being known. In some cases like Samuel’s, his mother Hannah desired to have a child and the Lord provided such blessing. 1 Samuel 1:27 says, ”I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him.” (New International Version) In gratefulness of God’s blessing Hannah returned Samuel back to God, in reason of her promise to our Father that she would raise Samuel to be a man of the Lord.…

Stronstad shows a high level of continuity of five charismatic prophets. A large amount of the continuity has to do with their works that were empowered by the Spirit and their witness that was inspired by the Spirit in the book of Acts. The five charismatic prophets he focuses on are Stephen, Phillip, Agabus, Barnabas and Peter. Stronstad starts and ends with Stephen. He believes the parallels between Stephen and Jesus are stronger than any of the others.…

Giving up can better be defined as the ceasing of belief that something you wish to happen might be possible. In the autobiography Night written by Elie Wiesel, a Jew during World War II, who was sent to a concentration camp, we witness an example of a prisoner of war giving up. Wiesel has strength until the very end of his journey and right before liberation by the americans he looses hope as his father passes away. In life, many prisoners give up hope because of the fear they will never see their loved ones or old life again, little is done to console them and conditions are often harder and rougher than those of their more privileged prior life and with their lack of freedom it is difficult to adjust to the new normal: their lives in captivity, and hope can be lost because of religious discouragements . However, as a person in bondage having a reliable something or someone to put faith and trust in can be motivation enough to ‘keep hope alive’.…
