As noted, Jesus forewarned of His Second Advent, but only the Father knows exactly when Jesus will return. Response to McCloskey’s Article Shamyra Thompson Liberty University Introduction In the short article On Being an Atheist, H.J. McCloskey discusses several arguments pertaining to the whether or no there is a God and what one believes to be evil. McCloskey also refers to the arguments as “proof” as well as implied several times that they can’t define or establish the existence of God. In the light of Foreman’s comments in regards to the question of God’s existence, I felt that he addressed the question by discussing the commonly asked question “Is there a God or if a God exist”. He also discussed what exactly is evil.…

The article that I found to be the most striking was the one by Harris “End of Faith.” One of the main reasons that I found this reading to be the most interesting was because it was about faith. I believe that faith does help all of us to be able to endure life’s little struggles, challenges, and difficulties that occur throughout one’s life while on earth. The definition of faith is to have trust or have confidence in something or someone.…

Southeastern University Entrance Essay 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 says, "Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me, But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. " Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." Growing up, I never questioned the existence of God because church was all I knew. My older sister and I spent countless hours with my grandmother at church helping in any way that we knew how and we never missed a service; in those services I heard testimonies of so many men and women who knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that no one other than God moved in a miraculous way in their lives and I just knew he had to be real. Not until I…

For as long as it has existed, historians, philosphers, scientists, and everyone in between have questioned the credibility of the New Testament's account of the life of Jesus Christ. Athiests, agnostics, and Christians alike all doubt the feasability of the events depicted in the New Testament. 2In a world where science rules, it is unsurprising the events depicted in the Bible would be scoffed at by many, shrugged off as absurd. Others question how a book can last centuries in human hands without the story it tells being altered. 3Undoubtably, there is immense doubt as to the reliability of the Gospels, whether or not Jesus was in fact the son of God, and how it could be possibly for Jesus to have risen from the dead.…

The word ‘soon’ can imply that things will come, whether it comes quickly or with delay. The bible has already predicted events that have happened, and the book of Revelation prepares us for what has not yet started. The troubles with prophecies is that they tend to speak as if the end is ready to happen, however, it does not reveal when. Because of this, people are unaware of when these things could happen and may not be prepared. As described, the angel did not reveal these things to John in a simple way.…

The first principle of the gospel of Jesus Christ is faith (4th Article of Faith). Faith, by definition, is something that is hoped for, yet not seen. Can doubt exist alongside faith, or is it something that is required to gain faith? When questioning which church was the right church to join, Joseph Smith had doubts that prompted him to ask some hard questions (Joseph Smith History 1:10). Through his doubts he was able to find the answers to his questions that led to the restoration of the gospel in these latter-days.…

For many decades, psychology and Christianity have been viewed as two fields that are mutually exclusive. Through the perpetual changes that both have gone through from pre-modernity, modernity, and post-modern thinking, researchers and theologians are working to find an appropriate and functional synthesis to bring the two together. Integration can be very difficult because psychology and Christianity have different worldviews. The goal of psychology is to fully understand the human mind, whereas Scripture teaches that humans cannot fully understand themselves. Psychology as a science has been said to have a dehumanizing effect as it encourages people to be normal and well-adjusted.…

Hope of the Godly Person The comfort in these things, which will be explained in later chapters is this: If you genuinely desire to do the will of God and you are ashamed of sin (even if at times you lapse into it) then you are to be saved. If you were raised in tyranny and taught evil but wish to learn the love of God for no other reason than he commanded it and believe his warnings, then you are a child of God and can be saved by God’s Son. The difference is as clear as the difference between Jacob and Esau. Just as certain animals cannot understand the nature of man, those born of the devil cannot understand love or mercy or repentance.…
