According to PBS (2002), Muhammad originated from Western Arabia. His parents were Abd Allah bin Al-Mutallib and Amina bint Wahb. Muhammad grew up with his mother as his father died before his birth. After his mother passed away, he was orphaned by his grandfather and uncle. When he became a man, he married a successful merchant named Khadija. While in Mecca, Muhammad was disgusted with the people who focused on material values so he prayed and fasted in a cave for several months then God finally revealed himself to him. It was the beginning of the sacred scripture, Qur’an. According to Mckay, Hill, Buckler, and Ebrey (2000), Islam means “submission to God.” Mckay et al (2000) stated that Muslim means “a person who submits.” Therefore, …show more content…
Muhammad and his pioneers were assaulted and tortured. Several antagonist leaders attempted to kill him but was unsuccessful. He left Mecca and moved to Yathrib then became an intercessor during the civil war. The foundation of Islam evolved and his followers built a religious community in Yathrib. According to Mckay et al (2000), Muhammad ordered to eliminate any idolatry images in Ka’ba. According to PBS (2002), there were several civil wars that took place between the year 624 – 627 and in 630, he returned to Mecca and other sympathizers shared his faith. According to bible.ca, the prophet Muhammad committed act of terrorism by a direct order of killing the Jews and quoted “kill any Jew that comes under your power". One of his followers killed a merchant Jew under his direction due to conflict of religious beliefs. After he stumbled from all the persecutions, he finally acquired more followers from Medina and received a new revelation from God to fight the Meccans so he commanded his followers to fight against the Meccans. According to Shoebat (2010), Muhammad and his apostles drove away all the Jewish people in Saudi Arabia. He also used Jewish women as concubines and ordered extinction of children with the first sign of puberty. Muhammad committed unjustified killings such as killing a 120 year old woman who did not support his idea of religious faith.
