One night last week, three old women, who are apparent witches, were seen upon the heath conspiring to meet with Macbeth. The next day, King Duncan was seen conversing with a captain for news about the battle between the Scots’ and Irish invaders. While at the palace, Duncan was informed that Macbeth and Banquo fought with great courage and Macbeth slew the traitorous Macdonwald. King Duncan spoke to Ross and said “ Go pronounce his present death, and with his former title greet Macbeth.”

Lady Macbeth covered Macbeth by saying he has been crazy for years. In order to fix this he made plans to visit the witches for help.
Hecate, goddess of witchcraft, scolded the witches for telling of the prophecy but instructed them to summon spirts when Macbeth arrived. While they were preparing their charms, Lennox was off talking to another lord of Banquo 's murder. Macduff also fled to England to get help but this prompted Macbeth to prepare for war. At this point, Macduff and Malcom were their only hope.

Macbeth ventured over to the Witches’ cavern where he asked for help with the true meaning of the prophecies. They summoned apparitions that all played into his fears. He claimed that a floating head warned him of Macduff, a bloody child told him that “None of woman born shall harm Macbeth” , and a crowned child holding a tree told him that he was safe until Birnam Wood moves to Dunsinane Hill.
As the final vision he saw a procession of eight crowned kings walking by, but the last was Banquo’s ghost, carrying a mirror. He did not understand and soon was interrupted my Lennox bringing the news of Macduff leaving. Macbeth’s next step was killing off Macduff’s family. At Macduff’s
