This is an overview of the new and improved VAMC Policies and Procedures for Proper Conference Attendance: Ethical Conduct for VA Employees. I will be using the 8 step Approach for Making Ethical Decisions in Business as the map for this presentation (Treviño & Nelson, 2007).

It has come to light in the last few weeks, that several Veterans Affairs Medical Center employees from across the nation have been going to conferences over the years and are not actually attending a bulk of the meetings. This unfortunate finding has increased the scrutiny of our VA system in the media and in government, in an era where we are already viewed as a broken and unethical system and a ticking time bomb in the media.
