Since Doublethink is a part of Newspeak, they both have comparable characteristics. Nevertheless, Doublethink is the ability to have two contradicting ideas both be correct in people's mind. An example of this would be how the Party defies every principal that defines socialism, yet they argue that they have true socialism. This gives the Party the opportunity to create anything they want to become true even though its citizens have information that counters what they are being told. In 1984, Hate Week is an event designed to increase the hatred toward the current enemy of the Party. During one of the Hate Weeks the enemy was changed and the posters were quickly changed in order to reflect the new enemy.
