Have you ever bought something because it was “breathtaking” or the “next big thing”? Have you ever bought or done anything just to “fit in”? Millions of people do. Everyday people are sucked in to buying things they really don’t need or doing things they don’t want to do. A lot of this is caused by propaganda. Many successful businesses have all used at least one of the seven different types of propaganda to make many people want to purchase their products. In the essay, “Propaganda Techniques in Today’s Advertising” by Ann McClintock, speaks about the different types of propaganda techniques and how we know if they work or not, which I believe truly does work and is very useful.
