Today’s propaganda is now down to a science. Hours of research and studies go into constructing an effective piece of propaganda. Every element of a piece of propaganda is taken into consideration, whether it be choosing colors that evoke a certain emotion, or utilizing very particular demographics so as to resonate with a certain group of people.

People during World War II were very afraid and propagandists used this fear to their advantage. The producers of propaganda typically did not portray rival nations as human but rather as brute monsters tearing apart civilizations. This technique was effective in dehumanizing rival nations. Citizens were not thinking about all the innocent people being affected by this war, but rather of the terrible monster of a nation that needed to be stopped. The written rhetoric in this image would have been effective because it makes the viewer feel like an important part of the war. When a person has a sense of what they are doing is making a difference, they are more likely to continue doing it.
