Primarily, Blue Revue is a conduit to promote higher education through scholarship and other financial resources. Secondly, but just as important, Blue Revue was established to encourage and inspire young ladies to uphold the admirable ideals of finer womanhood as well as cultivate and put into practice acceptable ways of social behavior. At the culmination of each Blue Revue season, Kappa Zeta and the Stork‛s Nest Charity Fund of Dallas sponsor the Miss Blue Revue Ball to spotlight the accomplishments of the participants and to award academic scholarships. For this assignment, I attended a Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) chili cook off event followed by a student dance. This event was held at Eastern Randolph high school in Ramseur, North Carolina. This is a small school surrounded primarily by agriculture and Ramseur is a small town of less than 2,000. The community members are mostly alumni of the school and have had generations attend Eastern. The West Virginia Board of Education v. Barnette case that was argued from March 11,1943, to a decision made June 14,1943. The case was filed when a member of Jehovah's Witness, Walter Barnette, was opposed to children in public schools being forced to salute the flag at activities. Barnette had fought other cases for his religion that didn’t like saluting symbols. Since children caught not saluting were expelled or charged as a delinquent, Barnette said that making kids salute the flag was unconstitutional, violating the first amendment.…
Like other businesses and organizations, Cypress College will offer promotion items in order to be memorable in front of thousands of audiences in the Rose Parade. There will be students who wear Cypress College T-shirts, follow the float, and hand out fliers to the audience. These fliers not only well designed, short, and easily stored in wallets or pockets, but also include enough necessary information about the school. Besides that, the audience will also receive colorful stickers, pencils, and rubber bracelets which are printed “Cypress College”. If I could pick a theme for a GECHS yearbook, I would choose a "Hollywood Walk of Fame" theme. Treating each student in the yearbook as a "celebrity" and the events at the school as "movie premieres". “Traying” was the first entry that caught my eye because it shows that Wellesley is the type of school that has traditions and a tight-knit community, which is something I am looking for in a college. Not only does sledding on a lunch tray sound incredibly entertaining, but the tradition illustrates that even though Wellesley students work hard, they also find time to have fun. “Traying” demonstrates that finding an optimal balance between work and play is important to the Wellesley community.
