Also if someone tried to move or use certain equipment and was not trained properly, they could potentially cause injury to themselves.

In order to access additional support and information relating to health and safety I would refer to my line manager, the policies and procedures supplied by surrey community health and access any government based websites.

Outcome 3- Understand procedures for responding to accidents and sudden illness

AC 1

Describe different types of accidents and sudden illness that may occur in own work setting

An accident could be described as an unintentional incident which could possibly cause great harm depending on the type of accident. This could be as a result of carelessness, incompetency or just luck. Some of these incidences can include a slip, trip, fall, burn or cut. A sudden illness can be described as an incident that occurs without warning, from within the body, for example, a stroke, heart attack or epileptic fit.

Explain procedures to be followed if an accident or sudden illness should occur

If an accident or sudden illness occurs then policies and procedures to follow include making the situation safe, treating the patient if possible, and, reporting the incident to my supervisor or manager. I would most likely either call the patients doctor, or if it was more urgent, then call an ambulance. I would also fill out an incident form. In general I would follow
