In "A Red Dress-1946", by Alice Munro, the red dress symbolizes non-conformity and giving in to the way of society. In the beginning of the story the narrator's mother is sitting in the kitchen sewing her daughter a dress. The material she chooses is very hard to sew and is very bold, the author writes, "The red velvet material was hard to work with, it pulled, and the style my mother had chosen was not easy either". The reason the mother chooses theses bold choices is because herself, being a nonconformist, is very unique and does not fit into the standard mold of society. She wants her daughter to follow in her footsteps and so she sews her a dress that will make her stand out amongst her friends.…

The Epic of Gilgamesh portrays the life events of a young ruler named Gilgamesh. Throughout the story there are various points of foreshadowing that help the reader to predict what will happen later on within the story. It is interesting to note the way the story uses foreshadowing, it is bluntly shown in several portions. In general, literary works use foreshadowing as a subtle tool to peak the reader’s interest, this is not the case within the Epic of Gilgamesh. While there are several occasions within the Epic of Gilgamesh where foreshadowing takes on a subtle tone, overall, the piece uses obvious foreshadowing.…

Figure 1 is a flower dress that was designed by Alexander McQueen. It looks carefully planned because every aspect of it seems to be in the right place. The dress is very unusual in a sense that it gives the spectator a virtual bouquet garden tour. It is a nude silk that is cautiously festooned and embroidered with flowers of different colours and sizes. McQueen created the impression of a real flower garden by using different shades of pink, violet as well as white to represent the flowers.…
