Jacin x Cress: I'm Bored

Cress sat on Jacin's bed. And waited. And waited. And waited. She was stuck in Jacin's room, since it was her best hiding spot for now, from Levana. She waited for Jacin to return from his shift. She desperately needed someone to talk to. Someone opened the door quickly and came in. Jacin quickly closed the door behind him so no one would see Cress. Cress moved over to make room for Jacin, but he just sat on the floor. “Hello,” was all Cress could say. “Back to you,” Jacin said. They sat there, saying nothing for what seemed like an eternity. They couldn't even touch the ground! Sometimes she regretted staying behind to help with the hacking of the cameras. She felt like a heroine, but didn't look anything like one. She slumped her shoulders. “What am I. I'm so…small.” Jacin looked at her curiously. “Why do you say that?” “I mean, you just called me short, for one.” Jacin's eyebrows shot up. “Short isn't the same as small.” Cress thought about that. Short isn't the same as small. “Who would expect you, a short, innocent-looking girl, to be able to hack into anything they throw at you?” he said as he stood in front of her. “I want to be like you guys. Strong. Brave. Amazing.” “Aren't you strong and brave and amazing just for staying behind, even though you had the opportunity to leave?” Cress smiled. She stood up and craned her neck to look up at him. She gave him a quick hug. “Thank you…for everything. Did you ever find cake though?” Jacin stared at her, smiling. “Nope, but if this is what it's like to have friends besides Winter, then count me out from this.” Cress blushed slightly. She went into Jacin's bed, and Jacin laid on the floor. “Good night,” Cress whispered. “Good night,” Jacin whispered back. Cress smiled up at the ceiling. Strong. Brave.

Chapter One Zaphkiel sat on the green grass that was beginning to turn yellow, contently watching the pink and orange sky. The trees around him stood still, but the air was stiller as if the whole world were frozen in time. As the sun sank behind the horizon, a cold wind broke the stillness. Red and orange leaves fluttered to life in the gust of wind. Some of them broke free from their branches to dance in the breeze.…

I watched as the whole building exploded into smithereens, an explosion that resonated even 5 miles away.…

Viviana wanted to tell Mademoiselle Poirier that there was something to fear and that no one outside of Bezonvaux was going to liberate them, at least, not anymore. There was a dreadful new war with Hungary and those strange clouds were coming in fast; pushed by the gales of York yet proceeding from the wrong direction.
