“Come on, it’s leaving!” “You know, maybe I’m having second thoughts on this whole ‘Jamestown’ ordeal…” “Aw you’re just scared, what do think will happen? Us get stranded or something? As if!” Ok fine, let me bring an extra flare gun in case something does happen. Let’s get going!”

It was the 10th of December, 1606 when John Lorell and his close friend, Thomas Locke, boarded the Discovery, the smallest of the three ships sailing to create the first successful colony in North America. The two watched the harbor in London slowly shrink into nothingness as they day-dreamt about how wondrous this new colony would be once they got there.

That was what Thomas and John felt as they awoke on a beach. They were partially submerged in the waves, yet still completely covered in sand.

“Uuuuugh…” moaned Thomas; his eyes were blurry and unfocused as he regained consciousness. “I’m pretty sure we survived and have come ashore on this Island of sorts.” stated John, who had already gotten up and look around the beach they were on. Swit. “Did you hear that?” Thomas said urgently, looking around. He had felt something go by his head so close and fast it was almost unnoticeable. “Hear wha-” he was cut off as he saw what appeared to be a small dart, fashioned of materials that could have been found on the island, land right in front of him. “Thomas, I don’t think we’re alone….”

And at that he saw about 12 natives stand up from beyond the forest that was farther inland. The were positioned to shoot their long, curved bows when the two quickly got to their feet and sprinted away as fast as they could. The natives follow, quick and silent, but John and Thomas had gotten extremely lucky; they had found a small, almost completely concealed cave. “We NEED to get off this island” “I know, but first we need to get around those
