Prolactinomas Evolution Case Study

Another factor that may influence prolactinomas evolution is their natural history. Koppelman et al studied 25 women with untreated hyperprolatinemia for a mean period of 11.3 years. Seven of 22 patients with amnorreia resumed menses spontaneously. Galacthorrea resolved completely in 8 of 19. At the reevaluation, mean PRL levels decrease from 225 µg/L, to 155 µg /L. One patient had a slight progression of sellar abnormality. (G) Sisam et al (H) found that nearly 55% of 38 patients with untreated microprolactinomas had normalization of prolactine levels and there was no tumor regrowth during a mean follow-up of 31 months. Jeffcoate et al (F) following women with hyperprolactinemia (macroprolactinomas excluded) for 15 years, found that 33% of

Lactococcus lactis is a microbe classified informally as a Lactic Acid Bacterium because it ferments milk sugar (lactose) to lactic acid. Lactococci are typically spherical or ovoid cells, about 1.2µm by 1.5µm, occurring in pairs and short chains. They are Gram-positive, non motile, and do not form spores. Lactococci are found associated with plant material, mainly grasses, from which they are easily inoculated into milk. Hence, they are found normally in milk and may be a natural cause of souring.…

Humans have approximately 30,000 genes, but you actually have ten times more bacterial genes. Bassler considers humans about 90% bacterial. These bacterial cells literally almost do everything, from digesting our food, making our vitamins, keeping us healthy, etc.…

Sacrococcygeal teratoma is a tumor that can arise during weeks 5-8 of pregnancy. ST is derived from pluripotent cells of the primitive streak and often contains various types of tissue (e.g., bone, nerve, and hair). STs appear as benign tumors, but if left unchecked, these tumors can develop into large blood vessels, which creates extra work for the body to deliver blood to the location of these tumors. A deprivation of blood can occur and even be fatal to a child once born. ST occurs more commonly in female infants and usually becomes malignant during infancy.…

Document analysis is a very important method in historical interpretation. In this paper I will analyze four readings and discuss the motivation, intent, and purpose of each document within a specific historical context while focusing on author bias as well as the value of the document itself. The four historical documents that will be analyzed are as followed; “Perpetua’s Diary”, “Procopius’ Secret History”, “The Women from the Suras”, and “Pact of Kumar”. The first document, “Perpetua’s Diary”, is a section from a prison diary kept by a young woman, Vibia Perpetua, martyred in Carthage around the time of 202 or 203 CE. Being a diary entry and written in first person, the author of this document was Perpetua herself.…

Another trend that is also increasing is genetic diffference that may be related to breast cancer risk. In Document H it states “ All women have two main competing pathways that break down estrogen”. In Document H it also states “ The ‘bad’ metabolite has been associated with breast cancer”. All of this evidence shows that women that have or have higher chance of breast cancer most likely have a “bad” metabolite. This evidence also shows one reason why women may get breast cancer.…

Throughout Greek literature, the gods dictate everything; from stirring a body of water to sink a ship to transforming people into inanimate objects and sometimes animals, the gods don’t feel the need to completely destroy their humans when their behavior is not up to par with the gods expectations. The use of transformations rather than destruction becomes particularly evident in The Bacchae and The Metamorphoses. In The Metamorphoses, there are several instances in the lives of the characters in which a disheartening, or even destructive, event takes place and the gods take the situation and turn it into something favorable. Likewise, The Bacchae focuses heavily on transformations, however, instead of the transformations creating something…

Parturition involves many physiological and hormonal changes in which prostaglandin plays a critical role. The release of cortisol initiates parturition process by down-regulating progesterone, which ends the uterine quiescence. Cortisol enhances estrogen receptors’ expression, which makes uterine more sensitive to other uterotonic agents. Estrogen causes myometrial contractions, which will trigger the hypothalamus to release oxytocin hormone. Oxytocin will also cause uterine contractions and enhances prostaglandin synthesis.…

The role of humoral factors in modulating the aging process has garnered considerable attention in the past, dictated by the successful usage of the parabiosis surgery. In parabiosis, two mice are surgically joined in such a way that they share a common systemic circulation. The shared circulation enables the exchange of plasma and humoral factors, between the surgically joined mice (Finerty, 1952). Using a model of heterochronic parabiosis (HP), where young and old mice are joined together (Conboy et al., 2013), Loffredo et al showed that age-associated cardiac hypertrophy in old mice was considerably reduced when joined with the young (Loffredo et al., 2013). Exposure of young plasma also provided old mice with other systemic benefits including…

All across the world there are dances for everything from weddings to war preparation to child birth; dance is an important aspect of many cultures, traditions and societies. My life has been influenced by a number of dance forms. One dance type I feel very passionate about dicussing and practicing is Capoeria. Capoeria is a dance that form I was introduced to when I was around 7 years old by the local Boys & Girls Club and as I began to get older and do my own research on its origin and significance I’ve felt drawn to capoeria entirely. I’ve practiced Capoeria with a professional company and has even been apart of performances growing up.…
