Now days, at the urban areas, one issue that has been growing concern is the problem of poor environmental management. People in the area are not concerned about the proper way of disposing their wastes. One classic example is the situation in the public market; vendors just dumped all their wastes and garbage for the multi-cab (provided by the LGU) to collect three-times-a-week only. These wastes however, caused foul odor at the dumpsite vicinity aside from the fact that it has attracted rodents, flies and other harmful pests which can cause the spread of viral diseases to the community. Confronted with these situations, municipality’s commitment to protect and responsibly utilize the God’s given national resources should be addressed and do something to convert these wastes into something of economic value.
2 PROBLEMS AND OPPORTUNITIES The municipality has more work to do in the area of ecological waste management, but the accomplishments to date of related program should not go unrecognized. Though it has not yet established and created the concrete plan to tailor its implementation, the municipality looked for ways to address its concern strategically by creating first the non-physical components for public awareness and educational campaign related to ecological solid waste management.
